Mr. Masahiko Yamada

Mr. Masahiko YamadaMasahiko Yamada is Chief Executive Architect in charge of technical computing and innovation business at Fujitsu Limited, since April 2016.
Masahiko Yamada joined Fujitsu Limited in 1979.
He has been consistently working with scientific and highly technical-oriented customers, such as research institutions, universities and industrial organizations.
In 2008, he became the president of a newly formed organization called the Technical Computing Solutions Unit, which specifically focuses on HPC (high-performance computing) and advanced technical solutions, in such fields as aerospace, meteorology, atomic energy, etc.
Mr. Yamada is widely recognized as one of the primary driving forces behind the K computer, jointly developed by Fujitsu and RIKEN, which achieved the much-coveted number one spot on the TOP500 list in June and November, 2011. He was selected as one of HPC Wire's “People to Watch” in 2012.
In addition to the above, he works closely with institutions such as the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), which delivers weather forecasting services and earthquake alerts across the country. After the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan, his efforts supported severely devastated regions by helping the JMA to continually provide accurate weather and earthquake information. He is also engaged in disaster and environment monitoring systems in Asia, using advanced satellite systems.
He is also working with major universities and government institutions engaged in building high-performance computing and advanced solutions domestically and in the UK, Spain, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Singapore, and so on.
Mr. Yamada strongly believes in the importance of genuine and long-term relationships with business partners, and is deeply interested in shaping the future of social infrastructure systems through the integration of state-of-the-art technologies. His long-term goal is to help mankind by making our global society more prosperous and wholesome with technical computing solutions. Mr. Yamada holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Hokkaido University.
