Prof. Osama Sadik Tayeb (born on 20/1/1956 in Makkah, Saudi Arabia) received his Bachelor’s degree (1976) at King Saud University, Riyadh, in Pharmaceutical Science with honor and earned his PhD in Pharmacology (1981) from Vanderbilt University Medical Centre, Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.A.
He joined King Abdulaziz University (KAU), Jeddah, as a Teaching Assistant in 1976, where he practiced teaching, research and earned a Full Professor rank, in the Faculty of Medicine and Medical Sciences in 1991.
He served in several academic and administrative posts in the Faculty of Medicine and Applied Sciences until he became the Dean of the Faculty. Likewise, he assumed several research posts until he became the Director of King Fahd Medical Research Centre (KFMRC).
Furthermore, he served for several years leading posts in King Abdulaziz University as a Vice President of KAU., and the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research until he became the President of KAU in 2003. During his presidency of KAU, he acted among other things as President of various other universities, such as, Taiba, Tabuk, Jazan and recently the Northern Boarders University.
He holds memberships of many Boards, Councils, Societies and Committees. He published more than 60 scientific researches in the field of Pharmacology, Higher Education and University Management.
