  • PD Dr. Joachim Seybold assumed the office of Deputy Medical Director of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin in 2010.
  • Joachim Seybold was educated in Germany and the United Kingdom. He read Medicine at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen (Germany) where he qualified in 1994. After junior medical posts at the university hospital in Gießen, he obtained a research training fellowship from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) to study at the Imperial College in London from 1994 to 1996.
  • He worked as a research fellow at the National Heart and Lung Institute in London before continuing his medical studies and research at Justus Liebig University in Gießen. In 1999 he moved to Charite – Universitätsmedizin Berlin
  • He specialized in Internal Medicine at the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin in 2003 and became a consultant in the fields of respiratory and infectious diseases.
  • He was awarded an MBA degree from the University of Bradford (UK) in 2004.
  • In 2010 Dr. Seybold earned the status of a university lecturer (Habilitation) at Charité.
  • Since 2010 he is appointed as the Deputy Medical Director of the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
  • Beyond that, Dr. Seybold coordinates the Charité Medical Specialist Training Program, a well-reputated residency program for international doctors. He is involved in humanitarian activities in Berlin as well as abroad. Within this, he coordinates the health screening and vaccination program for newly arrived refugees in Berlin.
  • He has been invited to speak in numerous scientific conferences, and has published more than 40 articles in internationally-refereed journals. His scientific interest includes respiratory and infectious diseases, disaster management and new approaches to improve vaccination rates among young adolescents. He inaugurated in 2017 the largest randomized trial of school-based vaccination in Germany (funded by the Federal Ministry of Health). Dr. Seybold coordinates as a Deputy Director of International Affairs numerous activities of Charité with international partners.
