About IAB

One of the fundamental aims of the strategic plan of King Abdulaziz University (The Founder’s University) is to promote the University’s partnerships with distinguished scientific, research and industrial institutions. Based on the University’s goal to achieve international distinction, we believe this effort is an essential step in the development of the University’s academic recognition, in improving its academic and research performance, and in enhancing service to the community. To achieve these goals, the Higher Education Council, in its fifty-eighth meeting held on 18-2-1431 A.H, discussed a study carried out by the University which recommended the formation of an International Advisory Board and the criteria for selecting the members of this Board. The Council approved the recommendation of the study and issued a decree, No.10/58/1431 AH, to set up the International Advisory Board of King Abdulaziz University. The minutes of the meeting were subsequently approved by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Head of the Higher Educational Council, may Allah exalt his status, by the directive letter No. 2487/M B on 14-3-1431 AH. The International Advisory Board will consist of (20) Board members chosen for their achievements and contributions in the fields of higher education, industry and public service representing eleven countries: Japan, China, Singapore, Turkey, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Finland, and the United States of America, in addition to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Board members reflect an international spectrum of experience, knowledge and position from which the University will benefit in manifold ways as it evolves toward a world-class status. This diversity of experience among the Board members will be the catalyst for an exchange of ideas and visions about the direction of the University and the best ways for the University to realize its goals. We expect that it will open new horizons, inject fresh thought into the on-going University dialogue, and bring the University closer to the most current trends and concerns of the international academic and business worlds. The International Advisory Board of the University will begin its new role in a meeting to be held at King Abdulaziz University on the 29th and 30th of January, 2011. This meeting will be a starting point toward reaching our objective of taking a place among the most distinguished international universities in the fields of innovation, research, development, curricula, administration and community service.
